Prayer
As a Christian charity, we believe in the power of prayer as a way of communicating with God. Prayer is one way God’s grace and guidance can be given.
Please pray for the people of Sri Lanka. They have a wide range of urgent physical and spiritual needs. Please see below our main prayer requests at this time.
If you are able, please consider donating to Care Sri Lanka, or sponsoring a child or widow.

Churches provide essential support to communities across Sri Lanka, however, many require additional space. Muthuchenai Church and Ury Church are in need of permanent church buildings. In Thamapalakamam, the main church hall ceiling has collapsed and requires urgent repair. The windows and back room door also need completing, and the kitchen building requires a roof. The church humbly requests prayers and financial assistance to complete this urgent work.
In High Forest, the main church also works across Alma, Kawatha, Rilamulla, Konapitiya and Saranaveli. Every third Sunday, believers from these areas and High Forest come together to have communion and enjoy a fellowship lunch. The current space used for this is not large enough, but the church trust that God will provide.
In addition, local authorities in Sri Lanka can deny access to burial grounds if Christian prayers are being conducted. Please pray for the provision of a Christian burial ground.

Please pray for the physical and spiritual health and wellbeing of all those supported by Care Sri Lanka, as well as the individuals that provide aid. Believers in Sri Lanka have recently experienced difficulties such as dengue fever, cancer, mental health concerns, and diabetes. Please pray for the Lord’s grace and assistance through these difficulties. Please pray for nutritional support for the people of Sri Lanka.

Severe weather events, including the recent cyclone continue to cause difficulties for the people of Sri Lanka. In addition, towns near forested areas experience human-elephant conflict, posing a threat to lives and crops. Elephants enter villages, toppling fences and trees, destroying paddy fields, and occasionally attacking people. Please pray for the basic and spiritual needs of the people of Sri Lanka. In particular, please pray that all church buildings, homes and businesses damaged by natural disasters can be renovated as soon as possible.

All the learners undergoing training in this centre are aware of the value it provides. Widows’ families, children who have lost their parents, poor people, and church attendees’ children all benefit from this good work. The centre has the potential to support many more individuals. Please pray for the centre’s continued smooth running, and may God bless everyone involved with the centre.

Access to transport in Sri Lanka continues to present difficulties. Many believers live far from their local church, without public transport and find it difficult to walk. In Alma, members walk 4km+ to attend church each week due to the hilly areas not covered by public transport. In Rilamulla, believers walk anywhere from 3-6km each Sunday to attend church. Churches in Sri Lanka ask for your prayers, in the hopes that God will provide transport. Transport is not only important for church attendance, but also to assist the local community in attending medical appointments and community events.

Due to national economic challenges, both parents of a family often need to work. Rising costs of food, medical care, transportation and education place a heavy burden on Sri Lankan families. Finding employment is also becoming more difficult, as natural disasters destroy local farms and plantations. Daily wage labour is available, but very limited. Many young people are forced to discontinue their studies and seek work in cities such as Colombo. Please pray for God’s provision for the people of Sri Lanka.
